Drs/Nurses: Can't move my arm sideways & up. Rotator Cuff?
About a week ago my shoulder.. a few inches down from the top front of my arm started to hurt badly so I took motrin figuring it was inflammed for some reason... with a wait and see attitude to the doctor. I have a very slight tiny tear in my rotator cuff and bursitis with calcification so I'm used to constant minor pain, but not pain like that.
Anyway, the other night I tripped over a sneaker in the living room and my arms were flalling all over regaining my balance.
After that I couldn't move my arm off from the side of me at all! I can move it in front of me and in back of me, (like a jointed doll) but not out to the side and up.
What's weird is that I don't remember injuring it per se so I don't know why such an acute problem.
What part of the arm did I injure? Is this the rotator cuff or something else do you think?
The best advice would be to contact your Doc. Since you all ready have a small tear, bursitis, and bone calcification, the fall may have irritated the shoulder. Sometimes, if these symptoms all ready exist, it doesn't take much to cause further damage. Once you have an injury to a specific area ( even though it was a small tear), it is more susceptible to have a recurrence or worsening of symptoms. Your Doc may recommend a MRI to the injured/painful area. I hope that this helps and Good Luck.
