I am thinking of getting this for my step-daughter's 13th birthday. What do you think?
Is a Cabbage Patch Doll a good present for a 13 year old? I don't believe in 13 year olds dating, wearing makeup and short/tight clothes, spending hours talking about boys. I think kids should be kids.

I'm 17, 18 in a month tomorrow, and I collect cabage patch kids simply because they hold nice memory's for me and I prefer them to stamps. I did not feel this way when I was thirteen though 
I would suggest maybe her first piece of "Grown up" jewellery. I received a gorgeous charm bracelet for my Thirteenth birthday (Because I was "officially a teen") and have received a charm to go on it every birthday, Christmas, or major event (Grade Eight Grad, Starting high school) since, so it's a gift that helps you with gifts in the future. As I've gotten older and more mature the charms have been going up in price, with my sixteenth birthday marking the first real solid high quality gold one and this Christmas marking the first with a real gem in it (a tiny tiny little ruby in the centre of a real silver heart) And have been informed that my 18th will bring the first Diamond. With passing years I've stopped using it as an every day piece of jewellery because it's starting to be quite the expensive little thing, and I may consider getting another bracelet to put the expensive charms on so I can keep wearing it.
One important thing is make sure to get it just the tiniest bit loose, as you want it to KEEP fitting her wrist, and if her wrist happens to not grow you can just have a link taken out of it later on in life. It's considerably harder to have a link added on and have it look the same as the bracelet than it is to have one taken off. You could consider the off colour link as another charm, but for mine it kind of ruins the effect. I still love it of course, but it's the link with the most charms on it to try and hide it....
