Why are children often sexualized by the media?
For instance, Miley Cyrus magazine covering implying she was nude under the covers, with messy, just-had-sex hair...The Burger King commercial with sir-mix-a-lots "I like big(square) butts" to sell sponge bob square pants toys, the TV show toddlers and tiaras, Bratz Dolls, the newer, sexier dora the explorer...not to mention you can buy thongs for your five year old.

Does no one else find this creepy? I heard an argument from a slightly ignorant girl on this site who said that this is just the way society is, and its no big deal. I feel pity for her. Why are children being presented as sex objects, and why do some people think its perfectly okay? Pedophiles sexualize children and its a crime. The media sexualizes children and its all the rage. WHY people??
It's deplorable, but I can't help but assume that somehow it's profitable. That's the drawback of living in the capitalist society that we do.
If something can be made money off of, and falls into the realm of legality (or not), it will be exploited.
